Our Pastors

One of the unique aspects of our church life is that we are pastored by a husband and wife pastoral team, Rick and Rene’ Jensen.  Rick and Rene’ are co-pastors, sharing equally in the preaching, teaching, administrative, and pastoral life of our congregation.  Having a husband and wife, a man and a woman, as co-pastors, gives balance and wholeness to the pastoral leadership of our church, and to the whole life of our congregation.

One of the gifts Rick and Rene’ offer is helping church members understand how their faith impacts their everyday life.  Here’s what they have to say:

Too often people have been taught that God is an angry, judgmental, faraway figure.  But the Bible says that “God is love!”  We are drawn to God in the love we feel for our families, children, friends... and a loving community of faith.  As we come to know the love of God more deeply, we also come to know our deepest and truest selves.  When we experience the personal, unconditional love of God we are set free to love one another and ourselves in healthy and life-affirming ways.  That love gives us strength to face the complex problems of living, problems that seem to be getting more complex all the time.  Young or old, single or married, seeker or long-time Christian...there’s a loving, accepting, welcoming family of faith waiting for you at First Christian Church.
